This has me so upset I can't spell "Sci-Fi!" 🤣 🤣
And then there are those moviemakers who play loon sounds every time they want to create a mood of "mystery." They mercilessly exploit this beautiful bird of northern lakes and put its pristine call in all kinds of habitats: swamps, jungles, even deserts for crying out loud! And if I hear another extraterrestrial loon in a Si-Fi movie I will *riot!*
Yay teachers! My wife teaches pre-school, one daughter teaches elementary school, my older son teaches high school, and my older daughter is a university professor (as I was for my career) 🙂

This site feels so confessional, or confession-able, that I will finally unburden myself of a pet peeve. Although it's not about pets. Seems like any time I watch a movie or TV show set in nature, and an eagle flies by, they play the call of a *red-tailed hawk!* Because the hawk sounds fearsome, and our national bird, well....

Kills me every time. I am dying here in this lonely knowledge!!

That is all.

I think I always will be haunted by the cry of gulls, and the ever-changing beauty of Lake Michigan.

After 1 week on #Mastodon, the biggest difference I notice compared to #Twitter is the way each network makes me feel.

Twitter:
Open, scroll…
“Why are people so horrible to each other?”

Mastodon:
Open, scroll…
“Wow! There are so many interesting people in the world! I want to know more of them.”

I sense being here is changing my perspective of social media. #TwitterMigration

Moving from the bird app to Mastodon inspired me to start a series of mini essays about ecological microhistories in real time. Check in out: https://medium.com/@felice.wyndham/a-hundred-brown-pelicans-and-a-little-quake-faf70acc2895

Last week as I approached the intersection of the winding, oak-lined rural road that leads from my forest-mountain home and Highway 1 on the California coast, I saw something that made me pull over…

Yesterday forgot to say #Introduction

I have spent a lifetime writing and teaching about #nature and the human spirit.

I've got six nonfiction books behind me, including a national award-winning #biography of #SigurdOlson, a major figure in environmentalism and a beloved nature writer. Now, though, I've turned to #fiction and love it. And now I need an agent....

#silentsunday

(for new folks, this hashtag is a way to share a quiet, silent image on Sundays -- normally with no text - other than image alt-text, of course - but I wanted to make an exception today to explain the tag)
