Okay, folks -- I'm now [email protected]. I got a few instance suggestions, but hachyderm ticks all of my boxes and seems like a good place for now.

mstdn.social and hachyderm.io don't seem to be agreeing on various things, so I can't move my account automatically. (I've set up an alias, but mstdn.social swears I haven't...)

Please pardon the incoming burst of follow requests.

See you on the other side!

Well, seems time to ditch mstdn.social.

I originally switched here because @stux seemed like a decent sort who was interested in the community and running a good server. It seems I was mistaken.

I'm awfully close to just bailing on fedi entirely. I'm going to try to find a decent instance to move to or stand up my own instance.

If that instance falls over, then fsck it. I've got tons of other stuff that needs doing in my life, and it can be done in a more lonely fashion.

@gadgetboy It's the same for phone reviewers. They seem to think the public wants phones that weigh less than a sheet of paper with batteries that last 2.5 seconds. My ideal phone only needs to be charged once a month and can be thrown through a window with a note tied to it as a threat. It should be held together with drywall screws and replacement parts should be available at Lowe's.

Annoyed that almost every time I boost queer art from this account someone from off-instance reports it, even the non-lewd, no CW needed stuff, like a m/m couple almost-kissing.

So, please show me all of your queer art for me to boost the almighty heck out of it.

IDK why this is burning a hole in my brain right now but I gotta get it out...

Unisex bathrooms do NOT exist so that trans and non-binary people have a place to pee. They exist so that people with public bathroom anxiety have a place to pee. This is important for two reasons:

  • They're not just for trans people. They're also for people with social anxiety, parents with small children of the opposite gender, disabled or elderly people who need help from a caretaker, and basically anyone else who wants a bit of extra privacy. Having them available is good for EVERYBODY.

  • Trans people can pee wherever the fuck they want. If they're still early and not out and want to use the AGAB bathroom to avoid suspicion, that's fine. If they want to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity, that's fine. If they're more comfortable in the single-user unisex bathrooms, they're welcome to use it but are NOT required to.

  • If you're so scared of a peeing trans person that you don't want to be in the same room with them, then YOU can use the unisex restroom.

Maybe the internet being mostly five corporate websites for the past 15 years was a really bad idea.

Juneteenth (June 19th) is not a "holiday celebrating when news of the end of slavery finally reached Texas." No. Just no. Y'all make it sound like network latency! Like we were playing Fortnite, and all the Black players were lagging.🤡

Juneteenth is when the racist state of Texas took another very public L. Texas did everything it could to keep slavery going as long as possible. They gave up land to Oklahoma, so they could be below the slavery line. The Alamo was a victory for abolitionists.
