After lots of people objected, they removed it.

Yep. One of those acquaintances of my mother was also my ballet teacher and he was in a relationship with another guy, a medical student. I knew them both and knew they were in a relationship. I didn't think anything about it. Thankfully, the adults around me having a fit about me being "exposed" to them had no effect on me 😄
