Consistently inconsistent. Deviant. Gutterpunk. A general sign civil dissent can still exist out there somewhere. I use colorful language and believe human rights extend to everyone. My grasp of social norms can be charitably described as needing improvement.

Do you do OSINT¹ before going on a date with / meeting someone in person?

¹ Open-source intelligence (e.g. web searches, background checks, social media tracking, etc)

² I've opted to split this into masc/femme-presenting categories; please pick whichever you think is closer to your typical presentation.

³ If this poll doesn't resonate with you, don't worry, there'll be others.

It's a race. Will my phone die before the bus gets me home?
I wonder how fast the TSA would get paid if private jets were deprioritized or not allowed to fly when they there were bottlenecks at airports.

If, like me, you've been actively seeking a job recently, you will likely be aware of the impact Ai has had on the job market. Virtually every other day is a msm news story about qualified and/or experienced people making hundreds of applications without getting anywhere.

Personally, although I've had a few interviews that didn't quite land (one I didn't really have enough experience, the others were pulled or lost funding), I've now applied for over 300 jobs over the past year. At this stage I'm quite philosophical about it and recognise it's not a reflection of my value.

Along with all the other current crises, there is now a looming employment and skills crisis. This is being framed as a benefits culture led by overdiagnosis of neurodivergence. Which makes me so very very cross it's difficult to put into words. I know that's not true. You know that's not true. *They* know that's not true. It's just a convenient demographic to throw under the bus to detract from the catastrophic damage being wrought by this new gold rush.

Urgh.

I've started typing this out a few times recently and always deleted. It's not something I feel very comfortable talking about. But I am really struggling with this and I figure that if I am there might be others. And I believe in visibility and not suffering in silence - been there and it was awful.

I know things will change at some point. And I know I've spoken to some of you separately irl about this (and thank you so much for your support), but just wanted to fire a beam out across Fedi to anyone else in this shitty situation. You are not alone. Always happy to chat offline if this is kicking your ass as much as it is mine! X

This just reads like "we're not sure how many people this actually affects, in fact there may not even be any transgender girl guides or volunteers, but it's still a huge problem so we need to ensure you feel like you don't belong."

I'm not from the UK, but I'd definitely be buying my cookies anywhere else now.

Transgender girls told they must leave Girlguiding by September

The move follows an announcement in December, stating that transgender girls would no longer be able to join the organisation, as it confirmed it was limiting its membership to "girls and young women".

If manifesting my destiny worked, I'd already be a housecat.
I am pleasantly surprised. There were only two hoops to jump to get nicotine gum for free. They even gave me the big box. Now I don't have to navigate withdrawal on top of everything else.

I wonder how many times my resume and profile has gone through an AI sorting and across a recruiter desk to get up to a month since first application to awaiting potential hire.

I swear it used to be as easy as filling the application at the desk, handing it to a manager, them calling the next day and leaving the scheduled interview with or without a job. All in 2-5 business days.

Some people on ICE watch are retired. A few quit their jobs to organize full time during this crisis. I'm actually not the only whistleblower who had to hit the eject button on a career to do the right thing.

But all of us are current or former educators, social workers, healthcare providers, civil rights lawyers, NGO employees, hospitality industry workers, etc., people with jobs that are absolutely essential to society.

With all the news about amending #dripa by the #BC premier or about the BC #conservatives wanting to repeal it this is a good read.
