DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW GBH Music enriches listeners' lives through the multiplatform music offerings underpinned by WCRB Classical 99.5, Jazz on 89.7 FM, Jazz 24/7, Classical.org, GBH.org/music, and a vibrant series of live and streaming events at venues such as GBH's acoustically acclaimed Fraser Performance Studio in Brighton, MA. WCRB Classical 99.5 is Boston's only radio station, broadcasting locally hosted classical music. The radio station records and broadcasts local concerts by world-renowned organizations such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and other prestigious music organizations. JOB OVERVIEW The Program and Operations Manager, WCRB manages and coordinates the systems and people that keep WCRB, specifically GBH Music, more generally, running. It is a wide-ranging position that needs to coordinate and work closely with the other leads, including the Director of Production, Manager of Content, GBH Music, and Lead Music Programmer. The position would report to the Deputy General Manager of GBH Music. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and schedule full-time air staff and manage part-time and fill-in air staff. Ensure the station style is consistent through daily listening, regular feedback, and periodic air checks done with the Deputy General Manager of GBH Music. Coordinate with the Lead Music Programmer to ensure a steady pipeline of daily classical music playlists by building and editing playlists and music features. Interface with IT and Engineering on all aspects of the broadcast and production chains, including ensuring all systems are up to date and functioning properly. Work with the pledge team on the four annual pledge drives, ensuring premiums and other aspects are all in place. Run and merge logs as required in partnership with traffic and Lead Music Programmer. Manage and schedule GBH Music streamed productions, which are done in partnership with the Production Group. SKILL SET Must have a proactive radio-first mindset and strong communication skills. Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of classical music and a commitment to winning new classical music audiences in a competitive entertainment landscape. Working knowledge of MusicMaster scheduling software required. On air skills preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. 5 to 7 years of radio and music experience required.
