Here's another recent new piece of mine β€” on the dangers of extreme #heat in #cities and how urban designers and architects are rethinking city spaces to help mitigate high temps, address inequity of impact and keep cities livable. Is in Corporate Knights. https://www.corporateknights.com/leadership/2024-will-be-the-hottest-on-record-heres-how-cities-are-becoming-more-climate-resilient/
Five ways that cities are adapting to extreme heat

Heat waves are more frequent and more intense, and city dwellers are being hit hardest. Here's how cities are becoming more resilient.

I've been busy digging up work since opting to do freelance feature writing full-time. It's a grind but I'm enjoying it. Here's my latest published piece: "Of #bats and blades," in ON Nature magazine. Expect more attacks on #wind turbines with Trump in office. Truth is, we need them. My piece explores why turbines take a big toll on three #migratory bat species and what can be done to stop it. Focus is on Ontario, but topic relevant across North America. https://catalog.ontarionature.org/winter-2024/page/18-19 [digital PDF]

98-year-old Dick Van Dyke endorses Kamala Harris and reads a speech from 1964 when he shared a stage with MLK:

"Hatred is not the norm. Prejudice is not the norm. Suspicion, dislike, jealousy, scapegoating, none of those are the transcendent facets of the human personality. They're diseases!"

Remember when Doug Ford was out of town when those trucks blocked Ottawa for weeks? He really doesn't care about traffic congestion.

@w7voa Steve... where is your coverage of Trump calling Harris a "sleazebag" and Adam Schiff "scum" last night in Arizona with Tucker Carlson posing as an interviewer? This Biden thing is a non-story, he isn't even a candidate, and yet you and all the other major media made a big "but her emails" deal out of it. No wonder Trump has a good chance to win and finish the coup he started at the end of his last term.
President Biden, in Baltimore, tells reporters he's concerned about North Korean troops in Kursk, Russia and Kyiv should strike back "if they cross into Ukraine."
The NYT says Trump was just doing an "improvisational departure," like John Coltrane or something, when he behaved like a complete madman on stage tonight

BREAKING: Joe Biden abruptly stopped a "town hall" after only 5 questions, then ordered music to be played while swaying awkwardly for 30 minutes.

Oh wait, sorry, that was DONALD TRUMP.

Last night.

So why isn't the mainstream media calling on him to drop out of the race?

Aurora has been going steady since sunset here in southern Ontario.
