She/her.
I am tickled pink that one of my fave follows @dadrummond is now on Mastodon. I have been in awe of his paleo bug fossil thingies ScienceArt ever since I first saw them. The detail! The detail! I want some of them as jewelry. He shared, I think it was on Instagram, some time ago, how he made them. It's all just fascinating.
Here's an article about his work: https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2021/06/allan-drummond-metal-insects/
Dr. Allan Drummond works at the intersection of art, design, and science with his metallic replicas of wide-eyed spiders, ants, and other winged insects. He buoys his research in the departments of Medicine and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago into a creative practice that casts biologically realistic specimens with a focus on anatomical elements of prehistoric organisms most likely to be lost in the fossil record, including underbellies. Each creature starts with a digital rendering created in Blender that’s 3D-printed in individual pieces—you can see examples of these initial models on Instagram. More
Captured during a blizzard on this longest night of the year. Tomorrow will be brighter.
Learning not to be afraid of the dark, the silence, or the solitude takes time and requires that we are good friends with ourselves.
On this long, quiet night, may you hear hope promising brighter days tomorrow and the next. May you hear reminders that you are loved. #JoinIn
Little bit of #magic and #mystery by the tree today. This balloon somehow ended up on the heat register. It's been there for hours now and does this perfect dance on repeat every time the heat kicks on. I have no idea how it hasn't bounced away or been blown off course yet but it's too neat, I'm not touching it.
Gonna see how long it lasts.
