Phables: from fragmented assemblies to high-quality bacteriophage genomes

AbstractMotivation. Microbial communities have a profound impact on both human health and various environments. Viruses infecting bacteria, known as bacteriopha

It's an incredible honour to receive the @[email protected] and @[email protected] inaugural @[email protected] Outstanding Bioinformatics Software Developer Award for 2022. I'm especially #chuffed as like many binfies, Torsten was my inspiration for publishing my first bioinf pipeline (in Perl!). 1/3
I'm excited to see what the future holds for the ABACBS and ARDC awards, and I can only hope to one day inspire as many new binfies as Torsten has.
It was great to hear from @[email protected] on why the ARDC is supporting the ABACBS awards. Finding the time and money to develop and maintain bioinf software is hard, but good tools can be just as transformative as any other scientific breakthrough. 2/3
