A whole world of physics in your coffee mug: The science in your cup along with cafe-physics reviews for cafes I have tried + like.
Mostly based physically in London, UK. Coffee physics however can be found anywhere you have some curiosity and a coffee mug.

#Introduction Hi there, we've just set up our first account in the Fediverse!
We are a local, #grassroots campaign, supported by #Medact Sheffield, and part of a national network founded by Health Workers for a Free Palestine working to make South Yorkshire's NHS a Palantir-free zone.
We hope to reach out to others on the Fediverse who support this!
We're revving up for a demo on the 12th of March. See you there and Follow us for updates!
Each time we refuse, we make it easier for others (and ourselves) to refuse again. We can also make positive statements about what we value: authenticity, accountability, human connection, and credit where credit is due (e.g. to artists for their work).

Really fascinating study of the surface of my coffee as I tap the desk. This is the benefit of those December low sun angle days, I guess...
After nothing since January, two blog posts within a week (with more waiting in the wings). The first was on binary star systems I've imaged from my garden whereas this second one goes up in scale to star clusters.
The posts are image-centred although, as is my habit, I've included a few generic #astronomy #astrophography snippets along the way.
People think of privacy as a thing you have but it isn’t one thing. Your privacy is your being able to choose for yourself what you share about yourself, and when and with who, and the other word we have for that is dignity. Your inherent dignity as a human being; our privacy is our agency over our dignity.
And people who want to take that agency from us, who want the power to strip us of our privacy ultimately want to be able to strip us of our dignity, whenever it’s convenient for them.
Something I didn't get to say yesterday:
We heard over and over during the event about "human-centered" approaches to "AI". But if refusal is not on the table (at every level: individual students and teachers right up through UNESCO) then we have in fact centered the technology, not the people.
