Q.A. engineer by day, video game player by night, desirer of a fairer, more just system always. Solidarity forever! U.S.A.

It's 2025 and everything sucks and everyone is job hunting, please enjoy this slowly unfolding thread of tech jobs at places that aren't making the world worse.

If you're hiring at not-evil (or even minimally evil) orgs, please reply w your tech jobs too?

I'm gonna be even kinder, even more willing to help, and even more down with bodily autonomy, LGBTQIA rights, and human decency, out of spite

I don't like either of these choices for President. Can I get Kuwabara 2024‽

"Like, just be cool to each other, or whatever, or I'm gonna punch you in the nose! What? No I don't care if the thing being uncool is an economic system or whatever, I'll find its nose and Imma punch it! Oh, oh! Also everybody can adopt a cat."

The counter girl hopped right up when I walked in and was clocking in to help me.

Me: were you on break? I can wait until it's over I'm not in a hurry.

Her: no, we're supposed to clock out when there aren't customers

Me: oh no, honey, no. That's illegal.

Her: 😳

Me: not for you, for your manager or whoever told you to do that.

Her: it is?

Me: it's called wage theft when your boss doesn't pay you what you earned. when your boss requires you to stay here, he needs you pay you for your time.

Her: oh.

Me: here, this is the office number to an employment lawyer, call her and tell her you need to come in to talk about this

Her: I don't have any money

Me: we're gonna get your money, you already earned it sweetie.

Okay folks this is an important one! especially for white people who aspire to be anti-racist!

If you want the Fediverse to have welcoming places for Black people, and you have a bit of money on hand each month, please support blackqueer.life in maintaining their instance & paying their mods. It's a very good cause :-)

And if you've got no money to spare right now, you can still boost :-)

HELLO FEDI! As you may have noticed, during the past month or so, racist harassment has been increasing. So, I have taken on a moderator, paying them from the Open Collective funds that some of you have generously donated to us! Which is great! However, the harassment continues and shows no signs of slowing down. This comes as no surprise to me because many server admins and committed users have been putting in real work to help make fedi safer for BIPOC. My sincere hope is that this powerful work creates more pathways for us to feel safer on fedi and bring more folks off of corporate hell social. Of course, work that truly threatens the status quo, in this case whiteness, will always bring overt and covert racists right to our door. White supremacists and their reactionary goons are always going to react with violence to people like us because our existence in this space threatens the stranglehold they have managed to get on the fediverse, driving BIPOC away from the platform in the process. So, today I am asking for your help in keeping my community safe. We need a second mod, and I want your help to get our coins up. I created a standalone recurring donation tier specifically to pay for us to have two mods. You can find it here: https://opencollective.com/blackqueerlife/contribute/mod-sponsor-67246 So far we have been extremely fortunate to have several folks give one-time donations to us, which has been a huge help. However, I had to stop using that money to pay for our server costs because we wouldn't be able to last more than a few months paying for both the server and a mod team. That's led to me once again paying for the server, email domain, etc out of pocket. I have also been putting in a LOT of my own time and energy running the place with just me and one moderator, but even though we are still small we do experience an outsized amount of harassment and bigotry from homophobes and racists alike. It's just not sustainable to continue how we've been going. So I'm asking for your assistance so we can keep BlackQueerLife on fedi and continue to offer a space that centers Black queer folks. For those who made it all the way to the end, thanks for reading. -eva EDIT: Pls boost. TYYYYYY

I recently performed my first wedding ceremony. It was a delight. I'm proud of the ring ceremony piece I wrote.

I took inspiration from the One Ring poem.

I'm a little frustrated that trans people and drag have become popularly conflated.

but also attacks on drag queens are attacks on us all and i will stand in high-heeled solidarity with my theatrical sisters.

trans is not drag. drag is not trans. but dammit, people should be able to present however they damn well please, at any time.

down with legislative heteronormativity.
