I'm a little frustrated that trans people and drag have become popularly conflated.

but also attacks on drag queens are attacks on us all and i will stand in high-heeled solidarity with my theatrical sisters.

trans is not drag. drag is not trans. but dammit, people should be able to present however they damn well please, at any time.

down with legislative heteronormativity.

down with heteronormativity of all kinds! ✊

@tarajdactyl I am trans.
I have little in common with drag performers other than being human and the subject of neo-con attacks.
There are some LGB folks who cannot stand with the T or Q.
I say that there is no E_UALI_Y without the T & Q, but we do not have equality without LGB either.
So IDGAF if the LGB stand with me or not.
I have stood alone, & I will stand (alone if need be) for equality for ALL & I will die on this hill (alone if need be).
LGB does not have to be strong enough to stand with the T because I am strong enough to stand for everyone & let me include black, brown, yellow, red, plus all abilities & neurodivergent as well.
I will never give up until ALL people have equal rights & equal responsibilities. We are different, we are very diverse, but we deserve the same respect no matter what what classification that people use to divide us.
So drag?
Not my thing, but I will die on the hill of fighting for rights of drag performers whether they reciprocate or not.
With you come hell or high water!
@tarajdactyl fuck normativity in general, I want to paint my flat with colours that look like unused Cruelty Squad assets and have a work environment where accommodating for my depression doesn't divide my income by 6 instantly

@tarajdactyl that said... I don't think it's coincidental that conservatives are pushing at the *conjunction* of drag and trans people. I think that's what threatens them the most.

A lot of them tolerated trans people when we were controlled by gatekeepers and forced to meekly comply to patriarchal stereotypes of what a man or woman should be.

A lot of them tolerated drag when it was presented to them as "gay people doing a bit"; performances that could be dismissed when the curtain dropped.

@tarajdactyl But drag performers and trans people standing together, overlapping, tells the world that we actually *mean* it when we say that gender is a performance. There is nothing inherent about gender roles; they can be circumvented, they can be twisted, they can be torn down. Patriarchy hates being exposed as vulnerable like that.

@tarajdactyl I am also frustrated with the conflation and drag is far from my thing.

But even if one only cares about trans people and not drag, there are more than a few eggs there and some have even medically transitioned while still continuing their bit. The Venn diagram have some overlap. Drag performers have also cracked plenty of eggs.

If drag can't thrive, then neither can I.

Side note: have drag kings entered the conservatives' field of view yet?

@coopdot they seem totally clueless that drag kings or trans men exist. every once in a while you see a terf discover trans men when one follows the terf rule and uses their AGAB restroom and the terf absolutely loses their shit because there's an obvious man in the women's room (which they unwittingly demanded 🙄)
@tarajdactyl @cainmark If that makes you upset, wait till I tell you about trans people and abortion rights…
