This week's Torah portion is where Jacob wrestles with the mysterious "ish" (angel? himself? Esau's angel?)

It's a profound scene in which Jacob receives a new name: Yisrael - one who wrestles/struggles with God- for which an entire people is named.

I find it a powerful reminder that in Judaism, it's not only ok to question, wrestle, and struggle -but that doing so is part of our deep identity. It is a blessing. #ShabbatShalom #JewishMastodon #Judaism

I must have watched #Fame a hundred times in high school. It got up my courage for #theater auditions, it inspired me through low spots, but most of all it pulled back a curtain to show what a vibrant community of creative people I could join if I let my guard down and went for it.

Today being an #IntimacyDirector looks like explaining consent-based casting practices and guiding a #HigherEd #theatre department in creating their own informed consent policy.

Actors should be able to determine whether a job works for their boundaries BEFORE they sign their contract.

This is better for actors’ physical and mental health & safety; it also facilitates directors’ processes, because you’ll cast an actor who’s earnestly excited to perform the role.
