Left of Center Democrat but I believe there's much more to life than politics. Not a fan of anyone too far to the left or right. I prefer people who can see other's points of view and aren't obsessive purists on any topic. Purism typically = fascism, let's avoid that...
I like to discuss movies, tv, sports... love to see your art and photography.

Appreciate people that would actually like to have a conversation.

Hello.

I wrote a thing about how we might watermark AI-generated text that works across apps, platforms and devices. It’s a simple/elegant hack for a real problem, and compared to the alternatives 𝙨𝙤 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙮.

https://www.wired.com/story/to-watermark-ai-it-needs-its-own-alphabet/

The idea is: Use Unicode to mark text that AI has written. Think “track changes, but for AI.” Not an enforcement mechanism, and voluntary.

Lots of work to do but an elegant hack may be hiding in plain sight.

To Watermark AI, It Needs Its Own Alphabet

It's getting harder to distinguish between AI- and human-generated content. But Unicode presents an elegant hack in the race to watermark AI-written text.

As someone who has watched a great deal of tennis I have to say the most obnoxious fans I've ever seen (at a tennis match) were the troglodytes at today's French Open at the Fritz v Rinderknech match. I've seen a lot of bad sportsmanship but these Philistines sunk to the level of the sewer today.

A distant crisis: Top MBTA managers live hundreds — or thousands — of miles from the troubled system they’re trying to fix

Los Angeles, Chicago, and South Florida are among the places T executives call home.

Just in case any of us in #Massachusetts feel like we are relatively smart these days:

We elected a Republican white bread baloney sandwich governor to "keep an eye on the Dem legislature" and he destroyed the subway.

New at Media Nation: An ombudsman could have explained what went wrong with The Boston Globe's story on #MBTA managers who work from distant locales. https://dankennedy.net/2023/04/28/an-ombudsman-could-have-explained-what-went-wrong-with-the-globes-mbta-story/
An ombudsman could have explained what went wrong with the Globe’s MBTA story

There was a time when many major news organizations, including The Boston Globe, had an ombudsman — a reader advocate who would report on the inside workings of the newsroom when problems arose. We…

@grumpygrumpyowl Without reliably functional #PublicTransit #Boston has devolved to a third world city. I now drive rather than depend on the #MBTA
Took the T into #Boston last night to see a show - the Red line is slow, slow, slow. We ended up getting out two stops early and running across the Common to not be late.

It’s not a matter of whether they can do their jobs remotely. It’s a matter of culture and privilege. #MBTA operators, maintenance workers and the like have to show up every day. So should the top executives. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/04/22/metro/distant-crisis-top-mbta-managers-live-hundreds-or-thousands-miles-troubled-system-theyre-trying-fix/

Linking to the article, the whole thing makes my blood boil, Eng should legit start firing everyone that's doing half this shit.

I'm very pro work from home, but if you're responsible for a major transit service including managing capital projects you should probably be on site? Fuck outta here.
