here's my capture of the sound track of the floppy version of Alien Legacy. You can navigate with timestamps in the description and find my favorites. Some are unforgettable and ear-wormy, some are just filler music tied to short events in-game.

Alien Legacy Soundtrack (floppy version)

#DOScember I just relased a pack of .VGM files from Alien Legacy (1994), doing my part for the preservation of FM synth music (YM3812) composed by Biard MacGuineas and Steve A. Baker.

this is running on a F256K2 from Foenix Retro Systems using one of the many sound options it has. Here, the YMF262 is showcased but the list I have is mostly opl2 with some opl3 sprinkled in.

A relaunch will happen for that system very shortly, now owned by wildBits Computing Company.

Grading marathon, so that means background fm music. You can join in and listen as well. My C code should now be patched up and need no manual intervention!

I just got this big boxed MS-DOS game, floppy version of Alien Legacy, in very good condition.
I always had a soft spot for it, despite never completing it.
It's my understanding that you have to patch it or use the CD-version to having a fighting chance?
I always prefered the fm synth soundtrack

more yamaha jukeboxing live,
this time, more focused on games - it began the list playback with Wing Commander II!

I don't know how many more rabbit holes I can go down, but I'm about to become a retro Mac 'Tuber lol
@geerlingguy we all end up with a surplus eMac or three. It happens
@Lando
eMacs... Good for text editing, I hear.
@geerlingguy
@geerlingguy I feel this haha stabbing my very soul

@geerlingguy Those eMacs will very likely need new caps... They were affected by the capacitor plague...

Otherwise they can run Leopard and (I think) Snow Leopard -- even if they're the slower G4 CPU variant, there's an OpenFirmware (Opt-Cmd-O-F) trick that tricks the installer into thinking it's an 867Mhz CPU rather than the 700 Mhz CPU.

Otherwise, they're great vintage machines if they don't have atrocious burn-in.

@geerlingguy it’s ok, you’ve learned from the best. No, not me. I’m talking about the great @mac84tv
@geerlingguy that mouse is lookin a little crusty
@RedTechEngineer yeah, a few bits are a bit crusty!
@geerlingguy do eeeeet and welcome!
@geerlingguy
Is that.. a mouse made by Apple that doesn't need to be flipped on its back to plug it in?
@geerlingguy remember to use an ADB cable for people to find you in there!
@geerlingguy new channel? Level 3 Jeff Mac?
@geerlingguy A @geerlingguy x @ismh86 crossover was not in my 2025 bingo card, and now it is.
@geerlingguy Those eMacs are giving my back PTSD.

@geerlingguy

Hey, that is some nice plastic! How come the new-ish apple stuff didn't turn yellow? Looks very pretty from here, especially the mouse (mouses or mice?).

@Madagascar_Sky I'm guessing better material science as they matured—a lot of old tech in the beige era turns similar shades of ugly yellow!

The TiBooks were also notoriously poor-wearing over time.

@geerlingguy My first Apple was a G5 Mac Pro I got like two or three years ago, just so I finally know how it would have been buying a 5000 Dollar machine in 2005 I was not impressed tbh even though one thing I have to admit the engineering of the hardware it self was darn cool sad PowerPC in consumer products died with the G5.
@geerlingguy Wott spieks against it?
@geerlingguy I am looking forward to the new videos featuring all of this stuff!
😃
@geerlingguy looking forward to black turtleneck shirt jeff.
@geerlingguy I can never have enough Retro Mac Youtubers to watch
