I have a number of old Macs that need repairs, so let’s see if I can fix at least one of them tonight. And since some of us are recovering from a holiday weekend, I’m going to start earlier than usual. I’ll be live this evening starting at 6PM EDT! https://www.youtube.com/live/fAHXbckMRig?si=sExGIT7WyAfvGIbs

I’ve been testing the Apple Scanner with my Quadra 605 err.. Classic/040 and noticed it wouldn’t work with Soft 475 Overclock enabled. Turns out I need to also move a resistor on the motherboard to divide the SCSI clock by two. Afterwards, the scanner worked perfectly at 33 and 40MHz!

Hey all, do I know any calcium imaging people here?

We have a problem with our Inscopix miniscopes (NVista 2.0):
We have 2 broken miniscopes and Inscopix does not provide service for this old model anymore.

We cannot afford to purchase a completely new system, so we're hoping to find someone who can do repairs. Ideally this would be a company in Europe/EU, but US might work too.

Do you know anyone? #neuroscience

That's another small project ticked off - I built a repacked SCHWIM (designed by @hkz ).

It's an all SMD variant of the SCHWIM (or shim IWM). Basically replaces the IWM with enough logic for a Macintosh to boot from another source.

The PicoGUS is such an amazing piece of technology that @polpo has developed. I want to get one working in my custom wood/glass SBC 486 with external enameled wire ISA bus. Let's poke it with the oscilloscope Saturday at noon eastern to figure out what the problem is. https://youtube.com/live/q7gv79ilp7k?feature=share

I've been hearing from recruiters and hiring managers that now, basically every cover letter and resumé is "perfect". Good grammar, spelling, everything about the job posting is mentioned, etc. etc. Because you can just use an AI tool to spit out a perfect looking page.

Which of course means that then it's all a test of how good can they straight up lie their way through the interview process.

So if you want to know why hiring has gone even more to shit unless you directly know someone who is hiring, blame AI.

Just goes to show you that if you buy terrible ewaste for three years, you’ll eventually find something cool!
This week is going way better. I fixed the Mac Plus, my washing machine, and my lawnmower! This Mac SE popped up on marketplace. Normally I wouldn't be into a regular SE, but it looks like it has a video card. Let's see what's inside Thursday (3rd) at 10:30AM eastern. #vintagemacintosh https://youtube.com/live/qEblIHcC_58?feature=share
