@dev this may be the best slide deck of all time
@dan @dev There are a number of SoftBank decks in the running.
@steve @dev almost as rich a source of powerpoint absurdity as the time I googled 'site:*.mil' for ppt files
@dan @steve @dev this reminds me of one of my favorite internet essays of all time: https://medium.com/message/amazing-military-infographics-1ba60bdc32e7

@heavyimage @dan @steve @dev also putting in a good word for the episode of Well There's Your Problem on military powerpoint, which has some real goodies in it and plenty of context from a service member about the sort of environment that creates some of them (while still being baffled at a few of their specimens)

I really need to get into this podcast! I know November from one of her other podcasts and am in awe of her!

@SnoopJ @heavyimage @dan @steve @dev back in the day there was the DefenseCharts (?) account on Twitter, regularly posting gems of the highest quality
@dngrs @SnoopJ @dan @steve @dev oh damn I didn’t know about that. Happy to try to revive the idea?

@heavyimage @SnoopJ @dan @steve @dev oh hey it still exists (but has stopped posting) so get inspired/entertained 😅⬇️

@dngrs @SnoopJ @dan @steve @dev this is great. Could def make a clone of this for the fediverse :-)

@heavyimage @steve @dev yes, this must be where I got the idea!

Like the article says, the best is when they start trying to explain and analyze purely abstract concepts. I remember reading one about “commander’s intent”. Not any specific commander’s intent, but the very idea of intent itself.

They are truly powerpointing at a level the rest of us cannot even comprehend.

@dan @steve @dev

I just posted my favorite image from the essay where it almost becomes like an illustration in a linguistic philosophy paper. I too bow to this level of power pointing.

@dan @steve @dev

Maybe battlespace awareness is like an infohazard in that once you encounter the concept you are perpetually finding new aspects it that must be explored (graphically).

@heavyimage so this is what british far right politicians mean when they say 'small boats'
@BigTittyBimbo once you truly have awareness of the battlespace, all becomes clear.
@BigTittyBimbo Another amazing thing I just realized about this image is that each kind of troop appears to be rendered using the technology of a different generation of home video game console
@BigTittyBimbo like you'd think the military's clip art gallery would be be updated every few years
@heavyimage the more i look at it the more i see, I simply cannot, i think I'm gonna have an aneurism
@BigTittyBimbo my god its full of stars
@BigTittyBimbo also please do not have an aneurysm
@heavyimage It's my party, I'll die if i want to
