LOVE IN THE DREAM

There is a kind of seeing where the world loses its authority.

The news still appears. Bodies still seem to suffer and die. Wars still look terrible inside the dream. But something in me is no longer convinced that this movie is the final word.

This is not coldness, necessarily.

It may simply be the loss of false identification.

The one thing I would keep honest is this: don’t turn “there is no world” into permission to be indifferent.

In lived experience, kindness still matters.

If someone is frightened, be gentle.

If someone is grieving, comfort them.

If a body is cold, light the fire.

If my own left foot needs a supportive shoe, put the bloody shoe on.

No world.

No death.

No body.

And still: warmth, coffee, Pete, the dogs, breathwork, kindness.

This is the sane balance.

The dream may not be ultimately real, but while it appears, love is the only sensible response to it.
