Well, a "commodity" is just an economic good, something useful or valued. So, something people want.

So....are we just going to drive all of humanity into extinction? Or is there some plan to make us all...not have to eat, and indeed not even WANT to eat?

Or, and this seems likely, does this author just have no clue what "commodity" means?
