Surely it's time to sue the billionaires?

If they came and trashed my house I could take them to court.

It's time we stripped the lot of them of their wealth for trashing our planet...

@greenpeace There are some 8.3 billion people in the world. 10% of those are responsible for most consumption, at the very least 800 million people. There are less than 3000 billionaires in the world, most of them in the US, China and India.

If you're living in Europe or North America, chances are pretty good that you're part of these 10%. Don't pretend this problem is exclusively about billionaires. That's dishonest.

@Penumbra @greenpeace my exact thinking when I read the article and compared it to the post from greenpeace. Chance are all peoples who replied to this post (me included) are part of this 10%.

@greenpeace

Obviously, billionaires should pay more tax — no argument there.

But your petition talks about billionaires and the top 1% as if they were the same group. They're not. Five years ago, for example, an annual income of £175,000 would have put you in the top 1% in the UK. Most of the top 300,000 people in the UK don't have private jets or superyachts and simply aren't in the same obscene class as people like Musk and Bezos. Most of them don't have access to the same tax-avoidance schemes as billionaires, and actually pay a higher proportional rate of tax than you and I do.
