World's wealthiest cause trillions in environmental damage each year

The world's wealthiest 10% are responsible for up to $5.7 trillion in annual environmental damage, according to a new study.

@greenpeace There are some 8.3 billion people in the world. 10% of those are responsible for most consumption, at the very least 800 million people. There are less than 3000 billionaires in the world, most of them in the US, China and India.

If you're living in Europe or North America, chances are pretty good that you're part of these 10%. Don't pretend this problem is exclusively about billionaires. That's dishonest.

@Penumbra @greenpeace my exact thinking when I read the article and compared it to the post from greenpeace. Chance are all peoples who replied to this post (me included) are part of this 10%.
@kingmoth @Penumbra @greenpeace yep, totally agree! Most people don’t get that they are included in the 10 % bracket even if their part of the lower income range in the developed countries.
I don’t mind taxing billionaire and trillionaires more though 😉
