Took a little detour up a residential street on the way to the grocery store today and saw so many different bees!! (Despite the preponderance of traditional neatly manicured Old Italian People lawns.)
Haven't a clue what families/genera most of these are, suggestions welcome!

There are two, and only two, types of Old Italian People yards:
- short, perfectly manicured grass, perhaps with a row of roses. No other life to be seen, and some nonna or nonno is painstakingly picking weeds out from between the paving stones of the walk
- entire yard space up to 10 feet off the ground is given over to vegetable growing, with everything under a pergola for squash and beans, walled in with trellises, with tomato plants often in large plastic buckets (this is also a traditional type of Old Chinese People yard)
(Note: this is in the borough of the old City of Toronto where your typical front yard is like, the size of a king bed.)

In my part of town, the Portuguese variant involves beautifully painted ceramic tiles of religious iconography by the front door which Our Own @phillmv has catalogued here: https://okayfail.com/2017/saints-of-little-portugal.html
