AGI - Scambio di colpi tra Iran e Usa e nuova escalation di tensioni in Medio Oriente. L'esercito degli Stati Uniti ha abbattuto, nella notte, due droni iraniani che minacciavano le navi mercantili in transito nello Stretto di Hormuz.

"Oggi le forze statunitensi in Medio Oriente hanno intercettato e distrutto due droni iraniani che rappresentavano una minaccia per il traffico marittimo internazionale nello Stretto di Hormuz", ha comunicato il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti (Centcom) con un post su X, aggiungendo che le truppe americane restano pronte a difendersi da ogni aggressione da parte di Teheran.
Usa e Iran, il nodo dei beni congelati 
Il segretario USA al Tesoro, Scott Bessent, intende mettere i beni iraniani congelati a disposizione degli Stati arabi del Golfo Persico per compensarli dei danni causati dagli attacchi di Teheran, passati e futuri. È quanto apprende Reuters da fonti ben informate.
Bessent, prosegue Reuters, avrebbe chiesto ai suoi funzionari di valutare l'entità dei danni già subiti in modo da calcolare l'ammontare del possibile risarcimento.
Il Tesoro, riferisce un'altra fonte al New York Post, utilizzerà "tutti gli strumenti disponibili per consentire che tutte le risorse iraniane siano messe a disposizione dei nostri alleati del Golfo per sostenere la ricostruzione e le riparazioni per eventuali danni futuri causati dall'Iran".
Ieri Mohsen Rezaei, un consigliere della Guida Suprema iraniana Mojtaba Khamenei, aveva dichiarato alla Cnn che lo sblocco di beni iraniani congelati per 24 miliardi di dollari era uno dei punti cruciali della trattativa con gli USA.

Bessent, Reuters continues, would have asked his officials to assess the extent of the damage already suffered in order to calculate the amount of possible compensation.

The Treasury, another source told the New York Post, will use “all available tools to ensure that all Iranian resources are made available to our allies in the Gulf to support reconstruction and repairs for any future damage caused by Iran.”

Yesterday, Mohsen Rezaei, an advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, told CNN that the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets was one of the key points of the negotiation with the US.
