In all but the swift boats, the core issue was things the guy actually did.
I'm not in Maine, but I do share the frustration of center right v. far right general elections because DNC fights progressives harder than fascists.

Edit: Again, not a defense of what those guys did, but a plea to focus on the big picture. That is what they are doing running these campaigns. They know that this is all about control of the Senate and they are terrified. We can not fall into this trap.

And even winning the Senate means nothing when they focus on keeping the status quo.
If the Democrats win the Senate it will not be the status quo. It may not be everything we would like, but the next Senate could confirm a couple Supreme Court Justices. We are losing our democracy to this court. There can be no greater issue that winning the Senate.
💯 They were awful. And Fetterman is awful. And we need the numbers to gain the majority, so that we can have subpoena power, confirmation power and control the agenda. All of this can be true at the same time.
We need to fight within the party, and there is a big fight between the corporate Dems (Schumer) and progressive Dems (Murphy). Murphy could be the next Majority Leader. But it won't happen if we don't win Maine.

I'm not holding my breath even if Dems get the Senate. There's always a reason they can't do what constituents want that donors don't.
No argument. We the people have a lot of work to do. The brightest point recently was Julianna Stratton winning in IL despite the corporatist campaign against her. There is actually a majority of Dems in the Senate ready to oust Schumer. Not saying it will be easy, but we need to fight for this power, and keep fighting.

When Hillary clinched the nomination, Slate announced a policy that nothing positive about Bernie was allowed to be said in the comments, under threat of banning. That move caused me to slot slate into the same framework as faux news and never interact with it again, but I can see the strategic point of the rule. This thread illustrates the strategic point of that rule.
I'm conflicted why I agree with you here and tossed Slate to the curb. Any idea?
I don't do podcasts. I've been reading my information all my life. I can read far, far faster than people can speak, and I can't focus that slowly. I don't do audiobooks, either.
Plus, I read the newspaper from 2nd grade on. I noticed that I got to survey over a hundred pieces of reporting on the slowest day, while the teevee news simply read the newspaper and highlighted at most three articles and wasted the rest of their time on sports and car crashes.

That is not the choice. It would be great if it were. But the choice you have is between GOP and Democratic control of the Senate.
That's the hard reality of politics. We mostly don't get to make good choices, just less bad ones, and we have seen how the more bad ones work our. We are living that nightmare.
But they are an opposition party. Just not enough of one across the board.
Again, this is about creating a majority coalition. If you don't support members of the coalition that are not pure enough, then the coalition can not achieve the majority necessary to take power.

Right now the only number that matters is 51.
With 51 Ds we get control of the Senate. We can block the worst of the Supreme Court nominations. We can investigate this administration with subpoena power. We can end the war in Iran. We can reign in ICE. We can protect the integrity of future elections. Stop the wanton grift. Everything hangs in the balance.
Look at Hungry recently. The coalition that ousted Oban after twenty years of fascism is nothing like a good liberal progressive front. It is a conglomeration of all sorts of parties, some of them pretty horrible, who united for one goal. Saving their country. We need to start thinking like this and not let the media get us distracted from this purpose, and that is going to mean holding our nose and voting for some people we would prefer not to.
