Democrats. We got swift boated. We got Genocide Joed. We got Al Frankened. Now we are getting Platnered. This is the awesome power of the 24/7 mainstream media influence machine.

Don't take the bait. Nothing matters more than winning the Senate this fall.

@mastodonmigration
In all but the swift boats, the core issue was things the guy actually did.

I'm not in Maine, but I do share the frustration of center right v. far right general elections because DNC fights progressives harder than fascists.

@katrinakatrinka

Absolutely, but nothing matters if we don't take control of the Senate.

Edit: Again, not a defense of what those guys did, but a plea to focus on the big picture. That is what they are doing running these campaigns. They know that this is all about control of the Senate and they are terrified. We can not fall into this trap.

@mastodonmigration
Everything important still matters.

And even winning the Senate means nothing when they focus on keeping the status quo.

@katrinakatrinka

If the Democrats win the Senate it will not be the status quo. It may not be everything we would like, but the next Senate could confirm a couple Supreme Court Justices. We are losing our democracy to this court. There can be no greater issue that winning the Senate.

@mastodonmigration
I remember the recent past. Something about blaming Sinema and Manchin for their failure to maintain even the status quo.

@katrinakatrinka

💯 They were awful. And Fetterman is awful. And we need the numbers to gain the majority, so that we can have subpoena power, confirmation power and control the agenda. All of this can be true at the same time.

We need to fight within the party, and there is a big fight between the corporate Dems (Schumer) and progressive Dems (Murphy). Murphy could be the next Majority Leader. But it won't happen if we don't win Maine.

@mastodonmigration
As I said, not up to me.

I'm not holding my breath even if Dems get the Senate. There's always a reason they can't do what constituents want that donors don't.

@katrinakatrinka

No argument. We the people have a lot of work to do. The brightest point recently was Julianna Stratton winning in IL despite the corporatist campaign against her. There is actually a majority of Dems in the Senate ready to oust Schumer. Not saying it will be easy, but we need to fight for this power, and keep fighting.
