We’re particularly delighted to see the @EUCommission include a call to “strengthen the open source social media space by supporting open and decentralised social media solutions and platforms. The Commission currently runs a #Mastodon instance, which hosts the Commission’s presence and plans to extend the users basis to EU institutions.”

@EUCommission @Mastodon Then please work harder to protect our intellectual property rights.

Because right now I can't put any open source work online without it being scraped into the AI machine. Open source becomes a meaningless word without copyright protection.

While it's a good measure, I don't think it does enough.

We need to sanction AI companies that perpetrate IP theft and we need to prevent them from engaging in economic activity, both in the UK and the EU, until these companies stop breaking the law and compensate for the damage they've done.
