The current pope is hella better than Ratizzinger (SP) and has made concessions towards many communities which have been attacked by the Catholic church in the past. And in my many years of interfaith dialogue on the grown Catholics are hella more chill than the born again mega-church nutters. Praise Bob!

From the second century, as far back as we can go to the modern day people are still arguing if the annointed one was flesh, was on the cross, suffered, where it came from, where it went and what the narratives mean.

I'd be very wary of anyone clinging to memes like first century gospels or 'authentic' letters of St Saul in the Catholic canon, or anyone chanting 'most scholars agree'.

In my reading the last woman to really hold power and sway in the system was Hildegarde Von Bingen, her letters are a masterclass in cutting through male dominant corruption.

I disagree with Leo on many things, including how his church views my LGBTQ life, the ordination and equality of women, etc but on this, the rush to glorify AI by wealthy powerful male technocratic billionaires who see the world's workers ("lower value human capital") and the earth's resources as disposable in service of their personal technocratic ideologies, Pope Leo is right.

I'm not a Catholic expert and I based my opinion upon reading Raztinger's Jesus of Nazareth compared to the flaccid drivel Leo spouts.

I'm not a fan of his theology, he's rooted in that oudious little shit Aquinas and his classmate Uta Ranke Heinemann is far more to my taste...but he was a conservative theologian.
