AmgineOne year a downy wood pecker discovered the resonance and sound characteristics of a metal roof gutter.
I have never looked forward to fall migration more.
@Amgine π I heard that male woodpeckers use metal roof gutter and other metal things to get the attention of female woodpeckers.
No clue! I never saw it, just heard it. I know a couple of neighbours identified it as a downy, and were discussing the legality of shooting it within the city limits. It went quiet in August. No one claimed a kill, and I hope it just headed elsewhere to avoid the heat.

glutto3:30 am around here. The other day there was a thunderstorm at 2:30 am, then the robins started tuning up shortly after.

The other day I was walking in a forest when I saw a bird on the ground flapping its wings. I immediately went into rescue mode, thinking first I need to find a blanket to capture the injured bird safely and then drive to the nearest bird rescue centre. Then I realized that there were actually two birds in the middle of some passionate encounter. π

@CaraBruar I am sorry to hear that. Books are difficult to sell (talking from experience), it just takes time to reach your sale target, particularly for self-published books. Media, social media, pamphlets, book presentations (libraries, online...), seasonal markets are all good ways to promote and sell books. π
