Frankly, #Reddit is truly horrible.

So, I've had a reddit account as `BradleyKuhn` for 10 years. I use it extremely rarely — just when some major #FOSS issue ends up having most of its discussion on some reddit thread.

Apparently reddit shadowbanned me 8 months ago, and I didn't even notice. All my posts since then didn't really show up, even though it looks to me like they do.

I talked with a regular redditer, & apparently this is standard practice.

Shadow banning due to inactivity? WTF?

I logged into #reddit for 1ˢᵗ time in 4-6 months b/c it's the central location for discussion of #BambuLabs #AGPLv3 violations.
I wanted to do a reddit #AMA on #Bambu, b/c so many on reddit are talking about the violations & #SFC's response.

BTW, when I logged in, I saw a “sponsored AMA” from Terminix about common pests.

I'm sure if I paid reddit whatever 💰💰💰 they gave, I'd be able to do as many AMAs under a non-shadow-banned account as I want.
Capitalism ruins everything. I love #Fediverse.

@bkuhn I don't have hard proof, but I'm reasonably confident that they shadowban (well, deprioritize/obscure) on a per-subreddit basis too.
@bkuhn when I was a moderator we could shadow ban for our sub on its own. Do you know if yours is throughout the site or just on individual subs?

@freshstart No, it's clearly sitewide as I also can't update my own Profile & other such things.
Shadowbans are disingenuous bull💩. Anyone with a clue can log out or check on a different device.
Only reason I didn't notice for 8 months is because #reddit is not as important as its wealthy owners think it is, so I had no reason to check.

I sent an appeal and help request. If they continue refusing to let me post to r/BambuLab after that, it'll prove (to me at least) their capitalist corruption.

@bkuhn

I would love to support Lemmy, but you know the reason: there is no good equivalent of https://www.reddit.com/r/JaneAustenFF/ … even if much younger and more computer savvy community https://lemmy.world/c/hpfanfiction is not even a shadow of its Reddit equivalent.
