@colinstu
Agreed!
Have you checked a big pet store though? Recent years, PetSmart for instance has a lot of pet camping gear. Haven't noticed a cat-sized tent but I haven't looked closely.
@silvermoon82 funnily enough I did look this up after posting and found https://www.minidisplaytents.com/shop/ (I cannot vouch for this site one way or another)
Not as neat looking as the display models but close enough technically xD
Others have also suggested:
- https://tinytents.com/
- Chewy, Amazon, REI, Temu, as having them. (Also.. cannot vouch for any of these / please boycott accordingly xD)
@colinstu @silvermoon82 I love this network.
"Here's a cute thing you never knew existed"
"AND HERE'S WHERE YOU CAN GET ONE"
❤️ A+ would Fedi again.
They use the old ones as tents for elves.
@colinstu apparently they make them now!
I am tempted

@colinstu @cstross As a bit of an outdoor gear nerd, I bought one of these for out daughter when she was a baby. Proper Easton 7075 poles and all.

@Tarah I've been informed that REI workers are striking / we should be boycotting REI right now.
(also.. hello Tarah!! I love all that you and Deviant do!)
@colinstu but, you can!
@colinstu @5ciFiGirl When I worked at REI, employees practically fought over the tiny tent display models that were being phased out. 😂
I never did get one, but I think that Amazon sells small pet tents now IIRC.
That is giggle and high five worthy. Maybe she was having a bad day or something. Her loss, it was pretty adorable for what its worth.
This is like when I learned that dishwashers with clear glass doors were also just display/demo models and not something you could buy or use at home.
Devastating.
In the aughts these were at Dick’s. 100%. I scored some by buddying up to an employee. I had asked for one but got five. Free. At the time it seems they just tossed them.
Now let’s talk about how much cats love these and how flimsy they were. Our beasts usually took a few weeks to destroy them. One good wrasslin match between them and it was usually over. So maybe three months of silliness.
Totally worth it.
They will eventually not be for sale, the model will be outdated. Ask for you name to be added to the list of "I want one."
When I was young, I wanted them for my dolls. They are so fun!
@colinstu This is what's called a "business opportunity".
