…The #Trump admin blamed what it said was the govt’s failure to manage its economy for Cuba’s #EnergyCrisis.

“The reason why they don’t have oil is because they don’t have any money to pay for oil,” Secy of State #Marco Rubio said in a March interview with NYT, in which he discounted the role of the #Trump admin’s #oil #blockade.

“The problem they’re facing is that usually when people give you oil, they expect to get paid for it,” he said. “And these guys have no money.”

All the cheap, high-quality and easy to get oil is largely tapped out. This is why shale, fracking and deep sea oil rigs are needed now at least with the current economy’s energy consumption.

Economically viable oil resources really only have a few decades, with oil extraction costing more in money and energy to get a unit of energy out.

Transition is needed even without climate change, but the global economy will face a reckoning when it cannot burn energy with mounting intensity
