Wolf Lichen. It’s common here, but if a person didn’t hike they likely wouldn’t know.

It loves the dense forest, and thrives in the gulches where the ecosystem more resembles the Pacific Northwest.

There’s something about it that makes me smile. It’s happy lichen.
