Tonight I am very hopeful for the future. Orbán's loss in Hungary is removing a big splinter from EU's hands. Now we can get to work, give Ukraine the support they deserve, and defeat Putin in Ukraine.

What a historic moment!

@randahl

Now someone help us get the fascists out of Italian parliament.

With early elections.

Or with a civil war.

I don't care.

@randahl let's see how it goes first before we celebrate.

Magyar is a former member of Fidesz after all.

@randahl

Sometimes we‘ve a solid reason for happiness. Tonight is one of these seldom moments.

I could freak out 🚀

Hey Putin, you damn bastard: in your face.

It's a spark of hope but we must not forget that Magyar is not a nemesis. Acts shall speak for a real change

@randahl Trump will not interpret Orbán’s loss as evidence that his own model is less attractive than he thinks. He will interpret it as evidence that the world is even more rigged than he thinks.

And that means the lesson drawn will be the wrong one.

So the clean forecast is: whining about interference, moral inversion of the loser into victim, attacks on Brussels, soft distancing from Orbán’s tactical failure and a renewed push to cultivate other internal European spoilers

@randahl there is still Fico but yes this is huge

@randahl Sadly, there is still Robert Fico that can gum up the works, but one fewer mole is still a massive win.

I am infinitely more happy for our neighbors and friends in Hungary. They deserve to be free of extremists. The benefit to the EU is secondary (but still huge). Today is about our friends, though. Congrats to them!

@randahl Belarus, are you watching?

@randahl It's a relief to see this news. First thing I checked when I left my family gathering was the BBC news to see what had was happening in Hungary.

<long sigh of relief>

<cackling at the American and Russian governments>

@randahl

And it all happened on Orthodox Easter Sunday.

We got rid of Judas and the EU resurrected ! :D :D :D
