Goals for 2026:

☐ DeGoogle

☐ DeMeta

☐ DeMicrosoft

Can you tick any off the list? 😎

@Tutanota I only have deGoogle left, slowly pulling away.
@Lightfighter Well done!💪🏼
@Lightfighter @Tutanota Me too. I've never had a Facebook or Instagram account, and my desktop computer now runs Linux. But I still have 3 Android devices. I'm looking forward to getting devices with factory-loaded GrapheneOS.
@dedicto @Tutanota I've been testing GrapheneOS on an old Pixel. Just need to make sure I can do everything I need. I've been deep in the Google world since very early on, so it's taking a bit to extract myself.

@Lightfighter @Tutanota

Once I got a degoogled androod phone (I use e/os) it was easy! Hang in there and keep chipping away. It's worth it!

@IT_SME @Lightfighter @Tutanota what phone are you using/recommend for /e/os?

@someone123456789 @Lightfighter @Tutanota

Pixel 8

I intentionally purchased it used because I didn't want to give Google any of my money.

I chose the Pixel 8 because it is a viable option for Graphene OS and a few of the Linux OSs. I like to have options, but after putting eOS on I haven't looked back.

@IT_SME @someone123456789 @Lightfighter @Tutanota You are saying eOS was a better choice than GrapheneOS?

@brainsuxx666 @someone123456789 @Lightfighter @Tutanota

Not at all. I'm saying I was so satisfied with eOS that I never moved on from it to try GrapheneOS.

I've heard nothing but great things about GrapheneOS. I think it's more security-focused, while eOS is more privacy-focused.

@IT_SME @brainsuxx666 @someone123456789 @Tutanota Everyone has a different threat model, so having options is a good thing.
@Tutanota I'm on my way — but some work remains
@elytres It's a journey! Well done.
@Tutanota
No Meta.
No Microsoft (but also no LinkedIn).
still have an Android though.
@scuti @Tutanota oh! I did not realise ! Will deLinkedin in a minute. Thanks for the info.

@Tutanota

Still fighting!!

@Roquette Nice, keep it up! 😄
@Tutanota Only my work laptop is running on Microslop. So, I do not have any impact on this, unfourtunately.
@adipoeserPursch @Tutanota Work laptop is not my laptop. I don't have control over it. When I have to connect it to my home WiFi I give it the guest subnet, so it can only go to the outer internet and connect to its work VPN. I don't consider that whole setup as my own.
@jdoe Exactly what I meant. @Tutanota

@Tutanota

I’d be completely off of all of this stuff were it not for the fact that other entities I deal with are not. For example, I signed up for a history course on Coursera; they serve the readings as Google Docs. Also, a charity organization I work with does their primary reporting on financial receipts and expenditures via FB. It’s not a good time to try to help them transition. I do as much as I can to get off the tech oligarch platforms, but in the end, I have to meet people where they are. It’s a process.

@Tutanota

- Fully DeMeta

- Partially DeGoogle
- - Required to use G Services for school unfortunately
- - and Android

- Mostly DeMicrosoft
- - with the exception of LinkedIn

@Tutanota all done years ago 😎
@Tutanota
DeGoogle done
DeMeta never done it
DeMicrosoft ..in work..50% done
@Tutanota Add "DeApple" there as well :)
@Tutanota Almost all of them, I just use Windows for After Effects
@Tutanota
I tick all the boxes since 2025 😁👍
@Tutanota getting rid of Meta - WhatsApp- is tricky
@Tutanota google 50℅
Microsoft in progresa
Meta off
@Tutanota
Bis auf Google Maps, habe ich alles geschafft.
Evtl. schaff ich das mit Mapy.com
@Tutanota been there done that, give me more targets

@Tutanota
- Meta: Clean ✅️

- Microsoft: Clean ✅️

- Google: Traces ☑️

@Tutanota DeMeta was easy because I was never on them. But the other two are difficult for practical reasons 😞
@Tutanota Microsoft gone. Meta (still on instagram but FB gone). Google: working on it step by step!
@Tutanota All completed in 2023.
@mirano Amazing! Well done. :)

@Tutanota Got that mostly pinned down, tho still using google maps and youtube.

Also I must admit I really like c#, though I'm using mono.

@Tutanota recently un-ticked the last one after going from gaming->less gaming on linux->no gaming on freebsd->a single isolated win11 enterprise iot ltsc machine for gaming
@Tutanota No more Meta, no more Microslop and would say Google about 92%, wish more devs would provide their stuff over F-Droid so I would not need the Playstore on my GrapheneOS install.
@Tutanota How can I tick all of them?
@Tutanota
All Meta accounts downloaded and deleted. Dual booting Linux / Windows as I transition fully to Linux. Google is the big battle just getting started. Samsung picked a bad time to force me to use Google Messages for my texting.
@Tutanota I need a tutorial about how I can do all of this!
@Tutanota Sadly, no. Already done all of that the years before :(

@Tutanota

DeMicro$oft loooong ago...
DeGoogle 99.5%...

Never was on Meta or any of it's offspring.

Looking to DeAndroid next phone purchase.

@Tutanota De Meta is hard

problem is to convince your loved ones to move out of whatsapp - then they convince other 20

which is next to impossible

@parikhparth23 Are you failing to get them to switch outright or just to install an app alongside WhatsApp?
@mousepotato they can install the app but force them to use

@Tutanota de google is hard as well

No one can replace google maps when its urgent

@parikhparth23 @Tutanota osm organic maps
@sl1200 @Tutanota not that good…places are missing
@Tutanota De all. Wenn du diese Post von einem Apple oder Android liest, du weisst: es ist schlechter, als es aussieht.
@Tutanota 🎶... It's DeLovely🎶
@Tutanota Almost 100% free of Meta and Microsoft. The most difficult is Google, since I'm an Android user. Unfortunately, we don't yet have a 100% ready and reliable alternative solution, but I believe in the potential of open-source technologies for this someday. The path of decentralization is beautiful and promising.
@Tutanota Don't have to DeMeta as I've never Meta'd

@Tutanota In my personal life the only difficult one is the first. Mainly for the creative content in YT and because transitioning to another mail address seems complicate for many reasons.
The other two were easy and done years ago. (Made easier by the fact that I always refused to join Whattsapp, and never really liked FB, X, any Microsoft products etc. I recognise my privilege!)

In my professional life I have no choice but to use MS and other big commercial products and that is infuriating.

@Tutanota Already deleted Facebook and Instagram. Currently working my way into replacing Gmail with Tuta, and fully transition to @GrapheneOS
@Tutanota Oh, yes! De-big tech!

@Tutanota I only have an Google and MS Account, but not signed in to any of my devices directly.

MS is still needed to play Minecraft and Forza Horizon. My Google Account is for purchased apps from google play (I'm installing these with the Aurora Store). ;)

@Tutanota My Github Account btw. only exists for projects where I want to contribute and follow PRs. My personal stuff is on @Codeberg.
@Tutanota none
All done already
