🚨 OPT OUT & say NO to #GitHub using your interaction data to train & improve its AI models. 🚨

GitHub is the next company to choose to opt you into having your data used - by default. 🚩

Opt out in Settings --> Copilot --> Features.

Under "Allow GitHub to use my data for AI model training" -→ Disabled.

It recently announced that if you do not opt out before April 24th, it will use your interaction data when using Copilot.

🏆 Research data management is gaining ground in mathematics:

A new lecture series in Leipzig addressed gaps in FAIR principles, authorship, and reproducibility—bringing together participants from students to postdocs.
Materials will soon be openly available.

Good morning!

It was a chilly, drizzly morning for my walk today, but it never turned into real rain, for which I am grateful. Now I'm home and sipping coffee and thinking about what to do with my day.

As usual, it will involve writing and reading. I'm going to roast a chicken, which will give me food for a few days and leftovers to freeze. I'll vacuum the house.

And this afternoon my sister and I will have a nice, long phone call.

Have a good one, my friends, and keep on keeping on.
#Today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.

The morning reading talks to the idea of taking satisfaction in what you do. That it's an on-going job.

It must work against itself sometimes. I'm satisfied with this effort. It was the best I could do at that moment. But can I do better?

More salt? Less yeast? Different timing?

Yet, at least sometimes, satisfaction come not in the product but in the doing.

Like getting up each morning and getting on with it.

May your day bring satisfaction #today

You wot?

Some of us started on machines where 640K was more than enough.

This is the space for vintage hardware, classic operating systems, old-school Unix, CP/M, Amiga, Commodore, early PCs, and anything that makes you feel nostalgic - or curious about how we got here.

Show off your collection, share a restoration project, ask for help getting that old VAX to boot, or just tell us about the first computer you ever touched.

Old hardware never dies. It just waits for someone who still cares.
