One senior #Vatican official familiar with internal assessments of the meeting called it “unusual” & not “a walk in the park.” It was “a frank & direct dialogue on issues where the distance between the Vatican & the #US is evident & clear,” said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal assessments.
