Tim Ward ⭐🇪🇺🔶 #FBPE@404mediaco Bizarre behaviour. The normal approach is simply to press the red button that disconnects the speaker's microphone when they go over time.
(And in fact when I had the red button I never felt the need to use it. Either the people going over time in public meetings were saying interesting things, in which case why not let them continue[#], or they were saying boring things, in which case asking them to shut up generally worked.)
([#] Except for quasi-judicial things like planning hearings where letting one side speak longer than the other risks legal challenges.)

They started his time when he got up to speak but he dropped his papers and needed to collect them. He asked, 'please don't start my time until I've started speaking'. There were then points where people were talking over him and applause.

In the stream, you can see that before he is speaking people are talking about how disrespectful the council is to their constituents, and per interviews with some people at the meeting, they assert the council let pro-datacenter lobbiests go over their time without consequence.

@Christo_459 @404mediaco Of course. it's a Republican-run state. I grew up a few miles from there. Been corrupt as long as I can remember.
I mean the foundation of the state is, the US used it as a concentration camp for the east coast native peoples and then a few years later said, 'Hey homesteaders. You have have your 40 acres and a mule if you can prove you can murder native peoples for a year.
Then the banks stole nearly everything from them in the dust bowl. Great home state, no?
