The idea that AI makes middle managers obsolete because information can more easily flow between workers and upper management implies career development and coaching can happen without managers.

I’d love to see Jack pull that off.

Jack Dorsey says he wants 6,000 Block employees reporting straight to him

Jack Dorsey is waging a war on middle managers. He said his "ideal case" was personally managing all 6,000 Block employees.

Business Insider
@carnage4life honestly, Jack can barely pull off his own shoes without help.
@carnage4life Also, "middle management" at Twitter was horrifically bad. The company functioned because of front-line managers and an overlay leadership function of senior ICs that collaborated heavily.
@carnage4life how about the rest of the employees stay and Jack is replaced with AI?

@carnage4life

This sounds like a narcissist'wettest wet dream. He can spend his days dreaming and writing think pieces and vision documents, knowing that 6,000 people will treat it all as gospel filtered through the priesthood of AI. FFS.

@carnage4life I'm not sure his plan will work but I do think often the bloat you get in companies as they grow is largely in the management layers.

Having spent nearly 6 years at a company spread over nearly 8 years, I can see how much slower and painful it is dealing with the added layers.

@carnage4life
I’ll bet it sounds more plausible if you first microdose acid and take ketamine
@carnage4life who's he going to fire when something big goes awry?
@carnage4life you are a lot less enthusiastic about removing management than getting rid of engineers 🤔
@carnage4life Insufferable twat he is.
@carnage4life you assume a future with career development
@carnage4life coaching and career development from managers sounds like a nice thing. Would love to see it someday.
