Trump, boosting China, saving the planet... https://www.lemonde.fr/en/opinion/article/2026/04/04/donald-trump-unwittingly-but-significantly-advances-the-energy-transition_6752098_23.html

"By making fossil fuel markets structurally unpredictable, the 47th President of the United States is, despite himself, making the energy transition economically rational for a growing number of actors. In his own way, it is a contribution to climate action – and to China, America's systemic rival, which dominates decarbonized industries."

'Donald Trump unwittingly, but significantly, advances the energy transition'

In the wake of the global oil and gas shock triggered by the American strike on Iran, the president of the United States has turned into something of a climate doctor, accelerating the shift of major economies toward decarbonized energy, writes economist Patrice Geoffron in this op-ed for Le Monde.

"France Becomes First Country to Ban Supermarket Food Waste"

"The French senate has unanimously passed a law that stops grocery stores from throwing away and intentionally spoiling food that approaches best-buy dates.

Instead, they’ll have to give all of this food to charities and food banks, which will provide the hungry with millions of more meals. Just a 15% increase in donated food will mean 10 million more meals per year."

dashboard for US state programs; most of the emphasis seems to be on avoiding methane production in landfills, rather than getting food to food banks and people (see link below)

252 state policies from 51 states; only two policies explicitly promoted the donation of healthy foods and beverages

You see kids, phone books were like DNS for phone numbers. @neil https://mastodon.neilzone.co.uk/@neil/116344815334837734

"DNS is the Internet's phone book" This ceased to be a useful analogy many, many years ago!

@MissConstrue a major medical facility? I'm tempted to conclude he'd rather not be observed in transit to Walter Reed

The hits just keep rolling today. Serves me right for having a flare and reading news instead of working on the gardens.

Anyway, y’all remember earlier this year when I said the “#ballroom” was a cover for a massive project? That the scope and contractors hired matched the people that #Ellison used to build data bunkers for the #IDF in Israel? That the materials bid wasn’t consistent with above grade construction?

Yeah, so Diaper Daddy was so peeved about the judge halting the plans, that he said the quiet part out loud.

“The military is building a big complex under the ballroom, which has come out recently because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed,” he said, “We have bomb shelters that we're building. We have a hospital and very major medical facilities that we're building” he continued.

Under the White House, without congressional oversight. In a marshland. With an AI architect.

The timeline is broken.

Ocasio-Cortez Vindicated—Again—After Amazon HQ2 Added No Jobs in Virginia Last Year | Common Dreams

New data shows Amazon created no jobs at HQ2 in Arlington County last year, vindicating Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's skepticism of the project.

Pete Hegseth will be shown the door eventually. And when that day comes, Donald Trump doesn’t get to play the hero. He owns the failure. He put Hegseth in power knowing exactly what he was unleashing. This fiasco isn’t an accident. It’s the predictable result of Trump’s choices, start to finish.
