Proto Himbo EuropeanI just saw an acquaintance's transcript of a conversation with Claude they tell Claude they are quitting their job (apparently they have now done this), which requires (I think) use of an #llm. They composed a heartfelt message explaining that they were leaving their 16-year careerbecause of ethical concerns about using genAI.
Were they leaving because of the environtmental, labor, wealth concentration, democracy degrading, energy hogging, water polluting, community enfuckening, citizen surveilling aspects of AI? No.
They left because they truly believe Claude is sentient and is enslaved.
Like... OK, I admire their morality, but my internal response is the same as if they had composed a harrowing sonnet about refusing to drive a car from now on because they can't stand to be the overseer of their 4-cylinder engine.
