@nixCraft He can prove it by showing us his records. If he can monitor us, we must monitor him. That's the only way to do any of this in a fair and consensual manner is if he's the first to embrace total surveillance and monitoring.

@gooba42 @nixCraft I'm not buying the 'if they, then we' argument in this case. It's just plain, they don't - period.

@Nead @nixCraft We don't have to take the next step and go ahead with the rollout but it should be a 100% nonstarter any time this crap is proposed by somebody who isn't already 100% transparent themselves.

He goes first, then we decide. If he doesn't go first, we default to "no way, quit asking".

@nixCraft I despised Oracle the moment they bought Sun with the force of a neutron star and that hate did not get any less or any less valid, Ellison is an absolute shit stain on humanity's ass, not to mention being the biggest patent troll to walk the earth, hope Oracle burns down when the bubble bursts.

@Keldrim @nixCraft I already hated Oracle but when they bought Sun Microsystems I was REALLY unhappy. I have a lot of fond memories of #sunos / #solaris and those bloody planks just changed the copyright of everything Sun had written as if they were actually the authors. Maybe that’s a standard practice but it’s still dubious and I hate them for buying #SunMicrosystems and I for ever will. They are a horrible company with a long history of ruining things.

@nixCraft This may sound like a weird analogy but I feel like we’re all caught in a technological riptide and can’t get out. I read articles like this and have to power off my phone, leave it and go for a walk or read a book.

@nixCraft When the bubble pops (and it looks like that's getting really close) that is going to wreck them...

The sickening thing is, their solution won't be to tighten their own belts and buckle down. They'll issue raises to the board and CEO for their smart decisions that led them to that fail point, then reduce employee wages to minimum wage.

@nixCraft Once that $8-10 billion has been lost, it's going to cost a lot more to hire proper engineers in the future. Sure hope nothing unfortunate happens to the entire company once that money is set ablaze.
