Hello! I love listening to public radio while baking and cooking. My book shelf is stocked with Terry Pratchett’s novels - they’re my reference section for understanding almost anything to do with politics. Birds are really cool.

These are the flowers of a Southern Magnolia tree at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Our guide said Magnolia trees evolved during Cretaceous period. This species survived the catastrophic end of the Cretaceous and the dinosaurs! That’s one hell of a lineage! #trees #flowers #gardens #bloomscrolling

Two artists with The Perry Glass Studio (part of #ChryslerMuseum in Norfolk, Virginia) gave a demonstration of #glassMaking in their studio. It’s definitely a dangerous and enchanting art form! Watching the two artists create and experiment brought me so much happiness! Here are two photos of some of their equipment: the 1st is the furnace with molten glass and the 2nd is a reheating chamber. #art #glass

My daughter requested a lemon cake for her birthday. This is a 2 layer lemon cake with lemon frosting and flowers made of berries and mint leaves. As I worked on the cake I thought about how baking is how I play around as an adult and just enjoy the trial and error, the successes and failures, the process and the creativity. I hope we can all be fortunate enough step away from our work, to-do lists and worries about everything else to just have fun. #baking #hobby
What happens if chives are not routinely cut down? Instead of producing more for the GDP (gourmand’s domestic produce) they make flowers! All that work for just a thing of beauty! Where’s the profit in that? What’s a capitalist to do when those slender stalks of impudence challenge the pillars of capitalism?
