Trams and trains are all free (in response to fuel prices) from today in Victoria, and I’m going to ride so many trains, guys.
@hacks4pancakes Travel mug, sandwich, a book and a lap blanket and only going home once a day to shower, change and refill your coffee?
@ukscone Sounds perfect! (I’d add my iPod and my Kindle instead of a book, because that’s how roll.) @hacks4pancakes
@hacks4pancakes free training is always appreciated 🙃
@hacks4pancakes train seemed a little busier than normal this morning. I’m not a regular commuter but I use the train often enough to get a sense that this seems popular.
Better than a poke in the eye from a burnt stick.
@hacks4pancakes Ever caught the train all the way to Belgrave? Or the tram right out to Vermont South or Bundoora?

How's about a train to Hurstbridge?

Well, since it's free and all...
@aj @hacks4pancakes hurstbridge is just so far. Those maps lie so hard.
@aj @hacks4pancakes I used to use the Vermont line to get to school one way and to go to the city after school the other way 😁 it was such a fun way to get around and hang out with mates
@hacks4pancakes including the inter-city regional trains. Day trip to Swan Hill or Warrnambool!
@jpm @hacks4pancakes Kryal Castle.

@trib @jpm @hacks4pancakes pity there's no trains to Puckapunyal.

Such a great place to go for some Aussie military history

@sortius @trib @hacks4pancakes Seymour is close, but Pucka is in the middle of nowhere for a reason

@jpm @trib @hacks4pancakes yep. Would be a bit of a walk, and I'm not even sure they do busses out to there.

Can't fire tank shells without being away from people 😆

@hacks4pancakes

Is Puffing Billy free as well?

I haven't been on that since I was a kid!

@hacks4pancakes i’ll bet man, i believe they explicitly said they’re not doing that in perth :(( lucky victorians AGAIN
@hacks4pancakes
What time do the trains from Helmond to Vic. leave?

@hacks4pancakes

I did have to say, I prefer Trans instead of trams ... Giggles

Hugz & xXx

@hacks4pancakes that's a surprisingly insightful solution to reduce fuel usage. You rarely get good ideas from politicians, all the smart ones get beaten up behind the bike sheds on their first day in office.
@hacks4pancakes It just occurred to me that it would be even better if Victoria adopted the German subscription model - a low flat fee for use of all public transport per month...
@Nigel_Lake @hacks4pancakes it's not that low anymore :( It's risen from 48 to 63 euros in less than two years.
@hacks4pancakes
This makes me want to ride a train.
@hacks4pancakes @alice it goes without saying that ACAB includes ticket inspectors, but I wonder whether ticket inspectors are all stood down for the next month. It would be a bonus if many of them ended up seeking alternative employment as a result!
@hacks4pancakes did you make it to Newport for the open day the other week? https://youtu.be/9UHS4kiruTs

@hacks4pancakes

This is such a good idea. Both the free trams and trains and just riding them all day.

@hacks4pancakes
I hope it sticks for some people and causes the transport system to improve with it. If we can have some society improvement as a side effect of (gestures at all the shit happening recently), then I really hope we keep it when everything calms down 🤞
Hopefully many people learn that buses/trams to work are ok, actually.
