No, that's not it at all. The US wants a permanent ceasefire, just like Israel has with all their neighbours. It gives them rationale to start bombing Iran again.
Iran wants a peace agreement with security guarantees. Anything less is not going to be agreed to.
Americans spend their lives lying to themselves, and now they expect the world to just nod as they spin bullshit about their war of aggression against Iran?
This isn't the 1930's, you can't just make up justifications for attacks after the fact then claim you just want peace
