Guess I'm not watching the Olympics anymore.
Guess I'm not watching the Olympics anymore.
Ahem, that Algerian fighter (Imane Khelif*) is fucking cis.
Her father had to show her birth certificate to the world to prove she is and always has been a girl.
Angela Carini can suck it. I don't care if I'm Italian too, she's a shame for my country, she's a shame for the whole Italian military corps.
* thank you, @linuxandyarn I've edited my post
@anominominominous yeah, the quote from Rowling in that article is bonkers, like how can she be so wrong and yet so smug about it?
That is a venomous, spiteful and slanderous thing to say. Imane is a woman, and always has been, and has proven to be by her family and state authorities. Algeria should sue Enoch Blyton for ever last penny.
@jt_rebelo ugh, it's like their feelings don't care about facts. Another example of self-tattling.
They have never cared about facts, it is all about them and their revulsion against difference. It is akin to "uncanny valley", they see a woman who doesn't pressent " correctly" as a woman and they are instantly revolted by what they see, or more accurately, perceive, and go instantly in to attack that person. The use of dehumanising language here is deliberate as well, as this means that they do not see us as human beings. Amd that further enables their vendetta of hate.

The allegations that Olympic boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting failed an eligibility test for women's competition have been made by only the International Boxing Association. That's also the only governing body that has ever been completely banished from the Olympics. The entire boxing world has already learned to expect almost anything from the Russian-dominated organization, whose untransparent tests have been seized upon by those criticizing the female boxers amid wider clashes about gender regulations and perceptions in sports. The IOC has decades of bad history with the beleaguered governing body, and it has exasperatedly begged non-boxing people to pay attention to the sole source of the allegations against Khelif and Lin.
@anominominominous @transcendentempress @alice Birth certificate doens't count. It's a genetic test for sry which in and of it self isn't conclusive either.
I wonder what support and councelling services they'll offer to people who suddenly find out that their 23rd chromosme pair isn't what they thought, in at least some of their cells, regardless of what sort of body they have.
None, of course. Being arbitrarily cast aside, and having your life turned upside down is the point.
Blah blah blah.
They should test the "men" too then.
But trans* and intersex men don't even exist in bigots' deranged world.
@anominominominous Absolutely. If they test one athlete they should test all regardless of sex or gender presentation.
But it's not about fairness, or justice or even reasonable moral choices, it's about entertainment for profit so that the billionaire class can suck up every more money.
@alice I haven't watched the ESC and latest olympics because of those *pesky* zionists,
I haven't watched the latest world cup because it was bathed in workers' blood.
I won't watch the next world cup because, let's be fair, fuck Trump and his deranged entourage and politics.
Now this is another solid reason why we should boycott any international event. Fuck them, fuck everyone involved.
Trans lives, workers' lives are way worth than any international event.
@alice I got bothered by the commercialism and the artificiality a long time ago, and the disconnect between amateur sport for peace and professional support for the other.
It's long been a showcasing of power, and the sooner it (and other professional entertainment sport stuff) dies the death so that we can find better ways of enjoying physciality as a society the better.
But I won't hold my breath.
Any "benefits" disappear once someone is on HRT.
The IOC said there may be "rare exceptions" for DSD athletes who do not benefit from the performance-enhancing effects of testosterone.
Fuck them and their disengenous bullshit.
@ra6bit trans folx are Schrödinger's villain—simultaneously weak little snowflakes *and* more powerful than trained Olympians.
It's fucking ridiculous.
'cuz we're not real to them - we're a spooky story they make up in their heads, and they aren't even talking about the real-world people involved; this is all about the imaginary person they made up to be mad at.
@ra6bit @jrdepriest @alice and the thing about 'unfair advantages' is, it's only considered a problem when a woman is perceived to have it.
Michael Phelps absolutely had unfair advantages that had nothing to do with fitness and training, and everything to do with genetics, body proportions and other innate factors. Nobody ever sought to disqualify him for the unfair competitive advantage he had. Nobody ever really called it an 'unfair advantage'. He was 'lucky' to be born that way. It was all hard work and discipline.
And his fellow swimmer Katie Ledecky was similarly successful *without* similarly unfair advantages. Lo and behold, there must be something wrong with her. She's not a 'real woman'. Maybe just make sure.
It's just so massively hypocritical.
Michael Phelps was a mutant. Perfectly natural. God-given.
I am an abomination. Completely unnatural. From the Devil.
Let us just remember the complete list of trans woman who have qualified for in their own right, and competed in, the Olympics as the women they are:
And all those trans women who have gained medal places:
And not forgetting all those trans women who gained a place due to cis women having to pull out:
Laurel Hubbard - Aeoteroa New Zealand - finished last.
