To be honest I didn't read the comics either, but at least I don't misuse the logo.
@MaryAustinBooks It's probably time for some of us to read the comics.

@MaryAustinBooks

I've always hated Frank Castle. Never understood the Marvel push to maintain him for so long.
The street-level characters are my favorites, and Castle never helps. He's only used as plot-chaos to either overstep morality issues to progress a story, or a punching bag to show how awesome he is getting his ass beat.

Punisher sucks, so it's no wonder the posers picked him.

@GGMcBG @MaryAustinBooks

Not much of a fan of Punisher either*, but the point of "good" characters isn't that they play well with other "good" characters, only that you can write interesting stories with them.

Separate discussion is should the "rules of the universe/plot armour" apply similarly to all characters, or given allowances for their personal situations.

* With expection given to Garth Ennis' Knights -label run, which was a comedy.

@iju

Then I'll clarify my position to say, I think he's a bad character with a lazy purpose. Least from how he's read to me.
The movies and series didn't turn me. I've tried to 'get' him since high school art class when a friend Dave redrew one of the covers for a project and told me Punny was his favorite.
I did like Cosmic Ghost Rider, but I sorta feel that was less Castle and more a reason to exploit aspects of him without being him. In space. Which is my second favorite Marvel setting.😁

@GGMcBG

To start with, I think we may be different generations. The comics I read were originally printed between late 1980s and early 2000s. The character is undoubtedly written differently today.

(I have very vague idea of who The Cosmic Ghost Rider is.)

There's also no shame in not liking or "getting" something.

But to give you my personal opinion, at its best Punisher is similar to a Jason Statham -film: it's not supposed to make a lot of sense, only to look cool.

@iju

Just watched The Beekeeper the other night. 😄
I can see that as crazy Castle thinking he was also as right as the bad guys. 🤘
Terrible, awful movie.

@MaryAustinBooks They don’t care. Pepe the Frog wasn’t a nazi amphibian neither.
@STPo As with controversial words, offence is in usage and intent, not the symbol or word itself.
@MaryAustinBooks Didn't even know that this is a logo from a comic. Just looked like a skull of some style. Cross bones missing though. Not piraty enough.
@waffelhard It's from a comic called the Punisher, whose title character uses it. He's an anti-hero. The artist actuall wrote this misuse into the comic itself, with a strong message about it.
@MaryAustinBooks
Good to know that some people know not to use the logo of someone with moral dignity, to promote the political agenda of someone who has a questionable grasp of it
@MaryAustinBooks @lisamelton Disney owns that logo. I’ve always thought it very revealing that they will send platoons of lawyers after your knock off Mickey merch, but white supremacists and/or cops get a free pass with Punisher.
@sidb Oh yes, they were big Trump/DeSantis donors until the leopards ate their faces. Sadly they're as fascist/fascist adjacent as Walt Disney himself was.

@MaryAustinBooks
Frank Castle is a marine special forces guy who killed members of his own unit because they were—among other things—murdering enemy civilians and not being punished for it.

What do you think he would make of people who murder Americans civilians or celebrate those who do?
