The hardest part about slicing tomatoes with a mandoline is figuring out which pieces are tomatoes and which are fingers.
@Alice took me over a year to grow my fingerprint back
@Kierkegaanks @Alice Hope you made thorough use of your free pass at crime!

@Alice

Reminds me of a friend who accidentally sat on a bacon slicer at work.

They were a little behind with orders from then on ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@Alice I'm no expert, but I don't think the tomato slices have any bones or fingernails

@Alice When playing a mandoline one can be sure that the sliced-off parts are finger-ends.

(Mandolins - the musical instrument - can be quite tough on the fingers until one develops a proper set of callouses.)

@Alice can confirm. The little voice in my head said you should use that little thingy when you get close to the blade. Nah...I can get another slice before I need that...
@Alice Probably makes it harder to get a tune out of it too.
@Alice The tomatoes arenโ€™t wearing rings.
@Alice
Eat 'em ALL, Alice.
Let god sort them out!
@Alice
Ouch! That hurts by merely thinking.
When in doubt, do not serve to vegans...

@Alice I took 1/4" off my thumb with one of those things. Threw it out. Incredibly, it grew back.

The thumb, not the mandolin. :)

@Alice That's why I practice on potatoes - the fingertips are the red stuff.
@Alice Also, never try to clean the blades with a rag... or so I've been told...
@Alice
Ok everyone put down the mandolin slicers. Theyโ€™re dangerous and only adults should use them. ๐Ÿ™„
@Alice *looks at my mutilated right thumb*
@michelestrider @Alice ruminates and rubs scars on multiple fingers
@Alice I don't know how you can slice anything with one of these
@ithoughtisawa2 @Alice You might be able to, but the juice would go down the soundhole. What a mess!

@Alice @Saltssaltgirl At my summer job with a restaurant right before college, I unwisely picked up a mandoline with my fingers wrapped around the bottom to support it. That was not a fun lesson.

Stayed at work that day with so many bandages on my eight fingers that I could have passed for Discount Mummy.

@Alice I have a finger that will never ever be the same. BEWARE THE MANDOLINE
