Close to where I live here in Germany, there's a hiking trail called "Pfad für Genießer", which translates to "trail for connoisseurs".

At regular intervals along the trail, you'll find these big wooden signs that showcase various native plants growing around the very spot you're standing in. And then – most importantly – a recipe you could cook using any of these ingredients! :)

That's really cool, is it not? Every station unlocks a new meal made from regional ingredients.

@lianna @hiking Actually it is, and all the more refreshing after my last hike in a similar (no recipes) park locally. All the signs they'd installed had been vandalized.

@CA_Hawthorne @hiking

Oh they vandalise signs and info panels here too, but they make sure not to obscure any information! They simply put their stickers and tags where there's space.

@lianna @hiking That's almost polite vandalism. What I encountered were destroyed signs, which would've required a tremendous amount of rage. I haven't returned to that park since. Maybe the city has replaced them, but I'm not hopeful.
@CA_Hawthorne @hiking Strange. You don't see that here often.
@lianna @hiking Sadly, but not unsurprisingly, in the US it's all too common. Disrespect, even contempt, can even be found on some trails. That's why l like the wilderness.
