Delta Airlines is suspending all congressional perks, including special congressional service desk, until TSA is funded. Hope others follow!
@rsalz They could stop business and first class. Would likely effect change faster.
@jens @rsalz
Then the rich start screaming about discrimination and it's a huge mess.
@jens maybe. Not many people fly. Congress does.
@rsalz Sure... what I'm thinking is that business and first class flyers are way more likely to discuss with their Congress buddies what things bother them than anybody else.
@rsalz it's about time

@rsalz

this will only encourage the libs to cave on dhs/ice funding.

@saltywizard The Democrats already offered to fund TSA and FEMA, the Republicans said no.
@rsalz and perhaps not on-topic, but Delta needs to quit pretending that there's nothing they can do about their involvement in deportation flights.

@rsalz TSA doesn't deserve to be funded. It's security theatre, at best.

But, also, congress is failing on so many fronts, they don't deserve these perks, even if they correctly disbanded TSA.

@rsalz They should remove the perks permanently and temporarily suspend them from flying, period. I'm so excited for Americans to get over our fear of rocking this awful leaky boat.

@rsalz I have also suggested that the airlines, being the primary beneficiaries of TSA, ought to foot the bill.

That is in line with traditional R-party doctrine that those who get the benefits ought to pay the costs.

In addition, Elon Musk offered to pay TSA salaries.

@karlauerbach @rsalz Also we literally pay a TSA tax on every ticket.

@adamshostack @rsalz I had not realized that there is already a TSA surcharge on airline tickets.

I am usually more amenable to arguments of the form "TSA benefits everyone, not just airlines [and passengers]", but in this case the locus of benefits is so tightly defined that it does make sense for airlines to pay the costs of TSA. (We also often forget that TSA deals with airfreight in addition to human-freight.)

(I haven't flown commercially for several years - it's actually kinda nice to be relieved of that travel nightmare.)

@adamshostack @karlauerbach @rsalz Exactly. There should be no requirement for a CR from Congress to keep the TSA going.
@rsalz @adamshostack honestly should be until ICE is defunded
