My Wife: I’ve seen reports that bears are up and about. Time to bring in the feeder.

Me: Seems awfully early.

My Wife: You said that last year.

Me: I did? Ok, after the weekend.

My Wife: That’s EXACTLY what you said last year. And then when did the bear eat our feeder?

Me: Errr… like Monday night I think.

My Wife: No, it was Sunday morning.

Me: We’ll compromise. How about Saturday night?

SATURDAY, 6:30pm
Me: I took the feeder in. See, no bears.

10 minutes later…

#Bears #15SecondsOfFame

When you hear about an exciting new restaurant in town, but by the time you make your way over to check it out, it's closed ;_;
@polytropicprodigal And we DON’T take reservations! 🤭
@danmccullough that’s one disappointed bear
@kdwarn It’s palpable. Didn’t even have enough energy to rip down the hammock rope and hulk smash my tree! 😂

@danmccullough @kdwarn

Yet.. That looks like a bear with a slow-burning fuse.

@danmccullough
“Hum-dee-dum, nothing to see here, just taking a stroll. Aw, no feeders? Darn”
@HubCityLocal Don’t mind me if I show up tomorrow and just double check that there’s nothing to see here.
@danmccullough
That's a lovely big bear! Saturday afternoon, good decision!

@danmccullough Bear wife: I've seen reports that feeders are being taken down. Time to get a last snack.

Bear husband: OK, we'll do it on Monday.

Bear wife: That's EXACTLY what you said last year. And when did the feeder get taken down?

Bear husband: Errr... Monday?

Bear wife: No, it was Sunday. We barely had time to get our snack.

Bear husband: OK fine, I'll go on Saturday.

Bear wife: Just don't be late.

@anakin78z This is like Rashomon. 😂
@anakin78z @danmccullough
I just read these two bear posts, in order, to my husband. We both thank you for the laugh - great way to start the day! 😁
@anakin78z @danmccullough Can you imagine what Bear Wife said to Bear Husband when he returned empty-pawed?!
@anakin78z @danmccullough
And today is World Bear Day. You could have put out a snack... He was probably just scoping the territory for his special day!

@danmccullough "No food on the stick. Is there food on the string? Hmph. Stupid humans."
@StaceyCornelius It’s that little mouth opening gasp it gives at the realization there is no “food on a stick” that makes me laugh everytime. 😂
@danmccullough Aww, poor bear. He was really hoping it would be there :(
@aral @danmccullough srsly i can feel his guts accepting that they are walking away hungry here

@danmccullough

They have good memories.

@danmccullough
If only you had installed *Bear feeders* that could also accommodate birds? 😆
@Rasta It would be a 24x7 picnic. 😂
@danmccullough
My wife loves bears. She'd do that. LOL
I take her on drives though Sanctuaries to see bears.
@danmccullough @sweetmonkeyjesus Similar thing happened to me. My wife had a “suction cup to the window hummingbird feeder” and suggested that we take it down or the bears would come after it. I openly mocked her with the assertion no bear is going to go after that. I didn’t get the picture of the bear standing on the railing, but it was still on the deck…
@chris @danmccullough @sweetmonkeyjesus My SIL’s son had a bear on their porch digging into the birdseed container. Always astonished me that bears wd go for small foods like that

@danmccullough

Best toot of the day! The retelling from the bears’ perspective below just adds to that! 🙂

@danmccullough

Holy moly, Dan! How lucky you are to have such a beautiful visitor (great video!). I hope it, and you & your family, too, may safely live on in peace.

@danmccullough That bear is gorgeous, too.
@danmccullough “Shit, where’s ma food. I should have listened to my wife! 😭
@danmccullough good call on bringing in the feeder! You can definitely tell that bear was disappointed.
@Permanent_Dinner We… ahem I, learned a lesson last year. Still have the tooth marks in the feeder tube to prove it. 😂
@danmccullough ha ha, I can tell from the bent feeder pole! We've got plenty of feeders ourselves that have fallen to hangery hibernators
@Permanent_Dinner I’m running out of directions to bend it in!
@danmccullough “timing is everything”. :) @Kletskous
@danmccullough your wife has a nose for bears!

@alexhaist She has to. She’s seen me blindly lunge to go outside when there’s a bear in the yard one too many times. But, Mastodon! I say. She’s not convinced.

(Also, I read your notification as “Nose for beans.” And thought, where is Alex getting her info? 😂)

@danmccullough your beans bring all the bears to the yard
@danmccullough also yes please get us those bear pictures! Your audience needs you.
@alexhaist @danmccullough We'll all pitch into your bear wounds gofundme.
@alexhaist @jerzone With the size of that bear, you may need to set up a gofindme
@danmccullough @alexhaist It looks like a very nice bear. Perhaps it fondly remembers all of the times you weren't forced to take the feeder inside on time?
@alexhaist @danmccullough complement or insult 🤔🤔
@Moss @danmccullough a good sniffer is always good to me
@danmccullough How is that bear still so big? Just goes to show you how ineffective fasting is!
@SvenNorth We thought the same thing! Usually at this time of year they’re a little less… chonky! 😂
@danmccullough Sounds like you can't bear the wife being right.

@danmccullough

"My feeder brings all the bears to the yard,
My wife's like, 'What's that in our yard?'"

@clickhere @danmccullough - I had to cackle

@NullNoMore 😀 Ha, I appreciate your charitable gesture..!

@danmccullough

@danmccullough
Your wife is definitely a keeper
