this sentence from Psychology Today Dot Com made me chortle:
"Do we want AI to be intelligent or do we want AI to be humanlike?" 🤣🤣💀
(I think the true answer is that it will never be humanlike because it is impossible to bestow will upon a machine built to serve. and it will never be intelligent because it is impossible for an unintelligent species to bestow intelligence on anything whatsoever. a slop generator is all it can ever be.)
I had a surreal experience today where a recent male acquaintance told me that he loves my voice and he wished I narrated audiobooks.
Whereupon I informed him that I actually do narrate audiobooks: romance and erotica, with explicit sex scenes.
He then proceeded to have a kind of short circuit meltdown (not a tantrum, he was just apparently a bit overwhelmed) and had to terminate the conversation.
It was bizarrely funny and I felt a bit like I was in an Agnès Jaoui film. 😂

New Zealand's finance minister has said, of its plan to mass-cut our public services:
"We'll continue to incarcerate people in our prisons, deliver welfare support to families, so those things will continue, but absolutely we can do more of that using digital tools."
I am surprised people elected these idiot sociopaths to government.
but I will say this: AI-run prisons, and AI-run welfare support both sound like certain opportunities to this antifascist.
